Visit to China and Russia / 启程走访中国和俄罗斯一周
Leaving today for a week-long trip to China and Russia.
I last visited China two years ago, but China changes so quickly that I look forward to visiting again.
My 1st stop is Chengdu, in Sichuan province, where I will be visiting two Singapore projects – the Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park and the Raffles City mall. I’m also going to Yingxiu Town, the epicentre of the May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. The Sichuan government has done a tremendous job reconstructing the town and rebuilding the people’s lives, and are very proud of the results.
I’m also going to Tianjin, to visit the Tianjin Eco-city. This is an important project for Singapore, which I look forward to seeing for the first time.
In Beijing I will be calling on Chinese leaders, including President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao. I am also speaking at the Central Party School (CPS), followed by Q&A. Many up and coming Chinese officials attend the CPS and I expect a lively exchange with them.
From China, I will head to Vladivostok for the annual APEC meeting. This year Russia is hosting. Vladivostok is a port city on the Pacific Ocean at about the same latitude as Hokkaido in Japan. The weather is extremely cold in winter, which is why APEC is being held early this year, in September.

今天下午，我将飞往成都，开始对中国的六天访问。我的访问行程排得满满，希望争取时间观察中国在各方面所取得的巨大成就。
我将会见中国领导人，包括胡锦涛主席和温家宝总理，期待跟他们针对彼此关心的课题交换意见。我也受邀到中央党校演讲，跟中国政界的后起之秀做一席谈。这是我第二次到党校演讲，上回是在2005年。
访问期间，我也将参观新加坡人参与的几个投资项目，包括天津生态城，四川高新技术创新园以及成都的莱佛士城购物中心。
我也会到四川省的映秀镇，看一看四川省政府如何安顿受汶川大地震影响的众多居民。
在结束对中国的访问后，我将从北京飞到俄罗斯的海参崴，出席一年一度的亚太经合峰会。海参崴是俄罗斯太平洋沿岸的滨海城市。冬天天气极为寒冷。俄罗斯选择在温暖的9月举行会议，算是尽地主之谊。- 李显龙
